SR. VIRGINIA JOHNSON'S GOLDEN JUBILEE CELEBRATION
On Sept. 22, 2001, we gathered with Sr. Virginia Johnson, our president, to celebrate her golden jubilee. A woman with an abundance of energy and generosity, Sister has served in Florida, South Carolina and New York. The ministries she has served in are indicative of the broad definition the Sisters give to their charism of Christian Doctrine. Sister has been a catechist, a Coordinator of Religious Education, a social worker and a spiritual director. She has served in Marydell Camp and in the New York Archdiocesan Mission Team. From her days in Beaufort, S.C., Sister has recognized the need to serve our many Hispanic Catholics so along the way she learned Spanish, a skill she used during her time in the Mission Team and as a social worker. Today Sister serves our Community as its congregational leader, a ministry every bit as challenging as any other she has had.
